For almost everyone (anyone?) reading this, my journaling methods are a little arcane. It dates back to June 1991, when I was frustrated at not having a defined faith, and decided to invent my own, called Eventime. It’s untimately more of a philosophical perspective, or even a chronicling method than a religious orientation, and does not conflict with my Catholic faith.

I’m going to give an account of New York these last two months by place instead of by time. It’s an easier way to remember.

Our apartment is subletted from our friend Miranda. It is located on the fourth-floor of a rent-controlled building in the neighborhood of Fort Greene/Clinton Hill, specifically two blocks from the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

While I have always been, and will always be, a Tigers fan first and foremost, my eight years in Chicago and six years on the South Side give me a certain amount of cred here: the White Sox are more deserving than any other team in baseball of this title right now.

I’d driven within Chicago, but Jess and I stopped in Indiana for food and gas, and she took over for me. Our original plan had called for arrival in Flushing in the mid-afternoon, but now it looked more like late evening or worse.
