DIARY

– HURRY! – It’s Friday! It’s Ferbruary! Unleash the fury of your Selves!
– TOMFOOLERY – I intercepted a message from ‘alan1’ in which he made mention of using this as a forum for tomfoolery. Not only don’t I mind such behavior, but I wholeheartedly approve of it.

Candlemas

BODY

Today is Candlemas, or the Feast of the Presentation of the Jesus at the temp. Although it’s officially been several weeks since Ordinary time began, there is a sort of subdivision of this time of the year into feasts as calculated by Christmas and the Epiphany, and feasts as calculated by Easter.

Phil, I respectfully disagree.

EVENT

I find myself in the same position as Rolling Stone magazine was when they decided to endorse Gore over Nader for the 2000 election.

That is, I’ve always liked Punxatawney Phil. He’s got an up front attutude, and his response to his competition (which is so much Cialis to his Viagra) has been to ignore them as simply below his dignity.

February

DIARY

One of my favorite months of the year. The best way to celebrate February (and Carnival season, simultaneously) is to be just a little bit more permissive toward yourself than you would be throughout the rest of the year. That way you’ll get out all of that tension you’re bottling up at the brink all year long, you’ll do it with a sigh of relief at the coldest and cloudiest moment of them all, and you can relax and ease your way into Spring and Summer.

DIARY

– Once again, it’s Thursday, which means I’ll typically try to blitz through blogging so I can work on frantically reading and writing all day.
– WEATHER – It’s getting colder! Or is it? Or is it?
– FEBRUARY – Is International Friendship month.

The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman, by Laurence Sterne. 2. Impressions of Volumes Three and Four.

CONCEPT

Laurence Sterne

Third Impression: The stories progresses by means of its themes. This progression is very consistant, and since it is derived in all cases from either Walter or Toby’s hobby-horses (part of their importance in the novel overall) it provides a context and necessity for their continued conversation.

The Wild Dogs Attacked

CONCEPT

I just finished my first assigned assignment of the semester; for my literature seminar I had to write a 1-2 page style “emulation” of Laurence Sterne. It’s called The Wild Dogs Attacked. If you’re interested in reading it, drop me a comment or email and I’ll send it along.

DIARY

– YESTERDAY – Took a nap, listened to my song, watched the predicatable and depressing State of the Union, caught up on Tristram Shandy, and went to bed by 2 AM. Your typical weekday.
– MY SONG – By the way was not Massacre by K-Nitrate, but Dead Days by Abscess.

In January, 1991.

DIARY

In winter of 1991 there was a fierce snowstorm. I remember because this was when Shane Cleveland and I invented our game “push the kid in the snow.”

“Push the kid in the snow” was similar to King of the Mountain more than it was to schoolyard bullies, although I think we liked to think the name made us sound tough.

In March, 2005…

DIARY

On the night of the first day of Spring, not much was going on at the Stockade. Sky came over and he hung out with Sam and I for awhile. I don’t remember the exact details but there was some sort of drinking involved; presumably bourbon or beer.
