This website is 14 years old!
It was assembled by Sam Perkins-Harbin of Forge22 Design from notes I kept on at least three other websites. I was two years out of grad school. I knew a lot about writing; web design and marketing my work, not so much. The first website incorporated blog entries going back to 2004 (still searchable here), work I was doing with the Gothic Funk Nation arts collective, and my own writing. In 2009, the website presented a graceful, if somewhat generic background of technicolor bubbles and entirely too much social media, but no clear links to books or articles:
In 2013, Sam helped me redesign the site after the publication of my second novel, Shattering Glass, featuring imagery from that novel. In terms of navigation, v. 2.0 was a huge improvement over its predecessor, but if someone wanted to sell books a huge image of my ugly mug wasn’t going to do it!
A third redesign was attempted in 2017 following the release of Urbantasm, an epic novel I’d been working on since I was sixteen. It was another step in the right direction, but we poured our better energies into the book’s website, which is still quite beautiful today.
It’s 2023, and past time for a new look. Once again it is my pleasure to work with Sam and Forge22, and I think his work on ConnorCoyne.com has created a work of art. Gone are the busy fields of links and images. Instead, the site now features a textured background borrowed from the Urbantasm site presenting links to my most current project, my mailing list, and Gothic Funk Press. The menu has been simplified to emphasize books, the blog, and other essential information. Social media is with the footer. The background image near the footer is also borrowed from Urbantasm, Book Four: The Spring Storm. Thanks for visiting; I hope you’ll spend some time here!
