Probably Song of Solomon.

This is hard. I'm inclined to say "The Bluest Eye" or "Sula" even though my memories of these are fading. I recall thinking, while reading "The Bluest Eye", that it depicted an even more tragic result of growing up in a bigoted society than "Beloved". I think I need to reread them both. Soon.

So far, I think Song of Solomon. But honestly, I've found her more and more annoying as time goes on. However, I've yet to read Beloved.
Saw a beautiful theatrical adaptation of Bluest Eye at Steppenwolf that I much preferred to the book itself.
