No, but the block I lived on growing up was hit by a wind shear that knocked half of a massive tree into a neighbors' dining room.
Nope. I was in a hurricane, though.
How did that go?
I was ten. There were I think twelve or thirteen people staying at my grandmother's house, some because they were just there, some because their houses would fare worse in the predicted path of the hurricane. (All family.) It was very scary in the middle of the night, but the grapefruit tree that my uncle Roger planted from grapefruit seeds when he was ten caught the giant oak tree that fell and prevented it from going through the roof, which we found out the next morning. Other than that, my cousins and I had fun. The water and electricity didn't work for days, but we used flashlights and water from the pool. We took walks around the neighborhood and went through the giant tunnels created by huge uprooted trees. This was Hurricane Andrew, which was one of the worst pre-Katrina, and I sometimes feel bad that I had such an overall positive experience with such a devastating hurricane. But overall, I did.
