Audacious Me

DIARY

My next post will be of substance. Promise.

Dear Sarah,

I’ve enjoyed my work with NMFF’s Department of Ophthalmology these past three months, and look forward to continuing work at this department.

My responsibilities, however, have increased dramatically during the time I’ve been working here.

Specifically, I now perform:

1) Reception and desk duties, including check-in, check-out, scheduling of follow-up appointments, explaining NMFF’s registration process and HIPAA guidelines, conducting the patient to clinic areas, validating parking, taking messages for doctors, technicians, and staff, and maintaining solvency between patient records on both IDXTend and RefractiveWare.

2) Filing duties, including preparing vouchers and HIPAA forms the day prior to clinic, pulling charts and shadow files (ie. alphabetized duplicates of Lasik records), requesting charts from the file room and storage through IDXTerm, ensuring that all billing forms are in records and fresh pre and post-operative forms have been written up, and sorting and filing charts and materials after appointments are concluded.

3) Miscellaneous duties, including work in the phone room when staff is unavailable. This task requires scheduling consultations which includes answering questions about the procedure, payment plans, and NMFF in general, as well as asking medical questions necessary for paperwork filed upon the appointments schedule. Other miscellaneous duties include signing for packages at the front desk and distributing them as needed, periodic patient assistance away from the front desk, and calling doctors, staff, and patients with messages from time to time.

I would be interested in meeting with you to discuss if a raise might be appropriate for the remainder of this assigment. I continue to enjoy working with both Advanced Resources and the Department of Ophthalmology at NMFF, and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Connor Coyne
