Intermission #2

CONCEPT

from February, 1998

GOODBYE

Don’t wait up.
I might be awhile.
I have to go down to the woods and down to the stream
and out of the woods and out of the stream
before I get back.

You shouldn’t hold your breath waiting for my arrival.
It might take a while.
I mean it.

Sorry to disappoint.

I know I was looking forward to seeing you.
I was.
We’ll just have to meet some other time.

TAKE YOU

Take you to a graveyard in the heart of night.
Lie down among the withered brown leaves,
moss at your back,
and beneath you the imbued dais of earth,
fallen,
and covered you in scented rose petals,
before the colder wind came.

OCCLUSION NO. 1

Pansies and posies. Sticks and guns.
Boys and girls. Ones and twos.
You know the occlusion is moving through.

Today the sun eclipses the moon

and throws into shadow the blue haze lakes,
while back on earth, the ash tumbles down.
Jacks and tacks from the underground.

END OF POST.
